Life of Mind
Challenging college-level seminars addressing major issues of the day, designed
for adults who want to immerse themselves in the life of the mind.
The goal is mental work, not grades—you get the rewards without
the hassles. What do you miss about college? The close study,
stimulating discussion, and mental mastery of subjects profound and
topical. What aspects of college life would you rather not revisit?
Exams, term papers, graduation requirements, overcrowded classrooms
. . .in short, everything else.

University of Oregon Press
Since listing its first volume in 1919‚ the University of Oregon Press
has published more than 100 books‚ monographs and journals. Most
of its publications have focused on regional and state history and
natural history‚ but a sizable number have dealt with other areas
of scholarly interest‚ from European literature to theater
studies. The book publishing program - which also published under
the imprint ”UO Books” – was curtailed in the mid-1970s. The
Press was reinvigorated to publish and distribute the Atlas of
Oregon‚ Second Edition‚ on the occasion of the 125th
anniversary of the UO’s founding. Since then‚ the Press has
published a number of other books‚ released the Atlas of Oregon
CD-ROM and revived a number of backlist titles.
